Skywards is the frequent flyer programme launched by Emirates in partnership with SriLankan Airlines. Launched in May 2000, it is a fairly recent arrival, as the very first frequent flyer programmes were started in the early 1980s. However, it has created quite an impact with its unique and innovative approach and has already picked up a number of prestigious awards, including Business Traveller MAgazine Middle East's 'Best Frequent Flyer Programme'. In 2003, Skywards won the Freddie Award for Best International Programme along with five other awards and in 2004 it won for Best award Redemption. In 2005 Skywards achieved its share of acclaim by winning the Best Member Communications (Asia Pacific), Best Web site (Asia Pacific) and Programme of the Year (Asia Pacific) at the Freddie Awards. |

Foresight is a Dubai-based non-profit organisation and a branch of Tamkeen. Foresight’s aim is to accelerate finding cures for retinal diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa by supporting locally based and international initiatives. For some forms of eye disease a cure could be found within 10 years. Foresight also aims to improve the lives of people who are visually impaired and blind in the UAE through many community initiatives. This includes a regular support group for people with RP and other hereditary eye diseases. |
